About Max

Max Lashin was born in Coral Springs Medical Center in July of 1989. Max's family lived in Weston till he was four years old, at which point his parents divorced. With his mom and brother, they moved back to Coral Springs so that Max could go to public school at Westchester Elementary School. He later went on to attend Sawgrass Springs Middle and three years after that he enrolled in J.P. Taravella High School.

While attending Taravella, Max started to become involved in his community by joining the Coral Springs Fire Departments Fire Explorer program. During the first couple months in the program he learned just what it takes to be a public servant and how demanding it can be. After passing his probation period, Max was allowed to ride with the fire department crews to emergency scenes and help assist in patient care and fire scenes. For three years Max rode with the B-shift crew at Station 64 near Ramblewood Middle. Max ended up collecting thousands of volunteer hours by caring for the citizens of Coral Springs.

During Max's junior year of High School he attended a lifeguard certification class held by the city at Mullins Pool. At the age of 16 he applied to Coral Springs Aquatics Center for the job of Lifeguard I. In July of 2006, Max became one of the youngest hired lifeguards as a employee of the city.

A year later, Max graduated from J.P. Taravella with honors. He had a 4.0 gpa, a silver cord for his community services hours. The next step in his education was being accepted to The Florida State University.

Max spent his freshman year at FSU taking political science, liberal studies and nursing classes. After his freshman year he returned to Coral Springs for the summer to work at the pool where he now was certified to teach swim lessons.

During Max's sophomore year, he continued with Nursing pre-requisite classes and begin with photojournalism. He worked for the student newspaper, the FSView as the assistant photo editor. With that position he was in charge of a staff of 15 photographers and responsible for covering nearly every sports game. In the spring of 2009, he became a contract freelance photographer with the Tallahassee Democrat. During his time with the Democrat, Max covered daily news assignments, community events and sports games for a major newspaper.

In the summer of 2009 Max received his associates of arts degree and moved back to his hometown to continue his education by attending a nursing school in South Florida.

Currently, Max is working as a Lifeguard II at the Coral Springs Aquatic Center where he continues to teach swim lessons and lifeguard. In addition, he is a freelance photojournalist in Coral Springs. His clients include the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Palm Beach Post, Sportsillustrated.com, ESPN.com and the City of Coral Springs
